From the games list, tap New game. Choose who's playing (you and the bot, or two to four people on one device), then the board, rack size and dictionary, and tap Start game. The first word must cross the GO square.
The bot comes in three levels: Easy, Medium and Tricky. It plays by the same rules, word list and tile bag as you, and you choose its level for each new game.
Two to four people can share one iPhone or iPad. When a turn ends, Rackety shows a handoff screen with the rack face down. Pass the device, and the next player taps to reveal their own tiles.
Each new game can use the Rackety board or a random layout, a seven- or eight-tile rack, and the Standard or Family dictionary. The choices are saved with the game and can't change once it starts.
A word scores the sum of its tile values. Bonus squares under new tiles count once: letter squares (2L, 3L) multiply that tile, word squares (2W, 3W) multiply the whole word. Using every tile in your rack in one turn adds 40 points. The GO square, where the first word starts, has no bonus. There are 102 tiles in the bag, including two blanks worth 0.
Rackety checks every play against the word list built into the app. If a word you expected isn't accepted, it may not be in ENABLE (QI and ZA aren't), it may be over 15 letters, or you may be playing with the Family dictionary. The word policy explains what's in each list and how to suggest a change.
Games save on your device as you play, and stay in the games list until you remove them. Deleting the app deletes its saved games. You can export your games as a file from Settings › About.
In Settings, choose System, Light or Dark appearance and a tile size, show or hide point values on tiles, and reduce motion. If dragging tiles is awkward, turn on Type words instead of dragging: tap a square, then type the word with the keyboard. Menus and buttons follow your device's text size.
This version has games against the bot and pass-and-play on one device. Playing friends online through Game Center and nearby play are on the way; this page will cover them when they arrive.
Email hi@rackety.app with your app version (Settings › About) and your device model. A screenshot of the board helps with scoring questions.
